Accessibility statement

1. The venue

The show is at The Wicket — Newlands, Camp Ground Road, Newlands, with the Snakepit Museum next door. Both buildings have level or ramped access at their entrances, and both have accessible WCs.

• The walk between the 2 buildings is a single straight, covered route — indoors, on 1 level.
• The show floor is flat throughout, and the display rows are laid out with 1 200–1 400 mm between them so a wheelchair or a pram can pass.
• There is seating in the VIP dining area, in the bar area and beside the stage. Ask a marshal if you need a seat in a hall and there is nowhere obvious to sit.
• The show is indoors, so heat, rain and wind are not a factor once you are inside.

2. Arriving

There is a drop-off point at the gate, and the driver can then park. Public parking is R30 per car for the day on the Groote Schuur High School sports field — a short walk from the gate. It is not inside the venue grounds. VIP tickets include on-premises underground parking.

If the walk from the public parking is going to be difficult, tell us before the day: we would rather arrange a drop-off or a place in the VIP garage in advance than leave it to the queue at the gate.

3. Companions and assistance

Where you need someone with you in order to attend, we do not charge for that companion's ticket. Write to the show office before you buy and we will add it to your booking. Assistance dogs are welcome everywhere the public goes. We do not provide a carer, a wheelchair or a mobility scooter, so please bring whatever you rely on.

4. At the show

Marshals and security are briefed on the accessible routes and can escort you between buildings or to a WC. The show is loud in the museum lobe during the live sets and the DJ. A quieter space can be set aside on request.

The hall lighting is bright, with some low-light areas in the themed bands by design. The stage uses moving lights and haze.

5. This website

We aim at WCAG 2.2 level AA. That shows in what the site does: text and background colours chosen to clear AA contrast on both the light and dark surfaces, a visible keyboard focus ring, a skip link on every page, real headings and landmarks, form fields with real labels, and no animation that cannot be turned off by a reduced-motion preference.

Where we know we fall short: the embedded Google Map is a third-party frame with its own accessibility, so every map action also exists as a plain link; some placeholder artwork carries short alternative text until the real photographs replace it; and the floor plans are drawings, so the halls are also described in words on the ticket page.

If a screen reader, a keyboard or a zoom level makes this site difficult, that is a bug and we want to hear about it — tell the show office and we will fix it.

6. Tell us what you need

Email the show office at info@ghostfest.co.za or phone +27 800 233 752. Tell us what you are planning to do on the day and what would make it work — a companion ticket, a parking place near the gate, a seat, an accessible route, or something we have not thought of. We will answer with the specific route or door to use.

If we get it wrong on the day, ask for the duty manager at the gate — not because you have to, but because it is the fastest way to get it fixed while you are still in the building.
