The venue
Ghost Motorfest is held at Newlands Cricket Grounds, Camp Ground Road, Newlands, Cape Town, 7700. The festival uses two adjoining buildings — Newlands Cricket Grounds itself and the Snakepit Museum next door — and the entrance is off the Wicket lobby. You do not choose a building when you buy a ticket; the whole site is one festival.
The pin for the venue is the ground's own position, and the "Get directions" button on this page opens turn-by-turn navigation to it.
Directions from the main routes
From the N1 (north): take the M3 south towards Muizenberg, then the Rhodes Avenue / Newlands exit and follow the signs for Newlands. From the N2 (east): take the M3 north-west towards the city, exit at Rhodes Avenue and head for Newlands. From the city centre: take the M3 south and leave at Newlands, or use Main Road through the southern suburbs.
Whichever route you take, the ground is on Camp Ground Road in Newlands, a few minutes from the M3. Allow extra time in the hour before the gates open, as the approaches to Newlands narrow close to the ground.
Parking
Public parking is R30 per car for the day, on the Groote Schuur High School sports field next to the ground — a short walk from the gate, and it is not inside the venue grounds. VIP tickets include on-premises underground parking at no extra charge, so there is no charge at the gate and no queue.
Because public parking is on a school field rather than in the venue, arriving early gives you the shortest walk in. The second pin on the map above shows exactly where the field is.
Public transport
Newlands is served by Metrorail's Southern Line to Newlands station, a short walk from the ground, and by Golden Arrow and MyCiTi bus routes along Main Road. Ride-hailing drop-off is at the Wicket lobby entrance on Camp Ground Road; ask the driver to use the venue entrance rather than the school field.
If you are coming by train or bus, build in time for the walk from the station and check the last service before you leave — the festival runs until 22:00.
Where to stay nearby
Newlands, Claremont and Rondebosch have a good spread of guest houses and hotels within a few minutes of the ground, and the city centre is a 15–20 minute drive or a direct train ride away. Staying in the southern suburbs puts you within walking distance of the venue and the restaurants along Main Road.
Because the festival is a single day, most visitors book one night either side to make a weekend of it — the Kirstenbosch gardens, the Constantia wine route and the city centre are all close.
Accessibility
Both buildings have level or ramped access and accessible WCs. If you have specific requirements, tell us in the mailing-list form and the festival office will send the exact route and door before the day.
A wheelchair user's companion ticket is covered by the accessibility policy; see the accessibility document linked from every page's footer for the detail.
