Getting to Newlands: parking, trains and where to stay
A visitor guide to reaching Newlands Cricket Grounds on show day — the routes in, where to park, the train and bus options, and where to stay nearby.
Newlands is one of the easiest parts of Cape Town to reach, but the approaches narrow close to the ground, so a little planning makes the day easier. The venue is on Camp Ground Road, a few minutes from the M3.
- By car from the N1 or N2 — join the M3 and exit at Rhodes Avenue for Newlands.
- Parking — public parking is R30 per car for the day on the school sports field next to the ground, a short walk from the gate.
- VIP — tickets include on-premises underground parking, so no charge and no queue.
- By train — the Southern Line stops at Newlands, a short walk from the ground.
- By bus — Golden Arrow and MyCiTi routes run along Main Road.
The show runs from 13:00 to 22:00, so check the last train before you leave. If you are making a weekend of it, Newlands, Claremont and Rondebosch have plenty of guest houses and hotels within a few minutes of the ground.
